Gillis Gilkerson construction and Gillis Gilkerson development teamed up for another successful project, Cypress Laundry in the Salisbury Plaza Shopping Center on Ocean Gateway in the heart of Salisbury. Gillis Gilkerson Project Manager David Erickson and Superintendent Tom Riley oversaw the fit out, from demolition to the final certificate of occupancy.
Laundromats are highly-technical construction projects, due to the complex infrastructure demands needed to support operations. From heavy-duty plumbing and high-voltage electric to reinforced concrete and proper venting, the buildout required precision and attention to detail, in order to meet the specifications required by its all new state-of-the-art machinery.
Cypress Laundry offers customers twenty-four washers and twenty-eight dryers, with a variety of capacities – including four 80 lb washing machines, and three massive dryers capable of handling items that other laundromats in the area would be unable to accommodate. Cypress Laundry offers completely digital machines, easy to load laundry cards either through digital payment kiosks or a staffed cash counter – eliminating the need for coins. Using digital laundry cards also creates the opportunity for a customer loyalty program, where customers can earn bonus points towards future transactions. Cypress Laundry opened in February 2026.
