In honor of those in our community who are, or who have been affected by breast cancer, Gillis Gilkerson launched a month-long #GGIGoesPink campaign that took place throughout the month of October.
To further show support, Gillis Gilkerson also donated to ‘I PINK I CAN,’ a fundraiser organized by a team of local women who laced up their sneakers to walk a marathon in recognition and remembrance of breast cancer patients and survivors, as well as their families and caregivers. The proceeds directly benefitted Women Supporting Women, a Delmarva-based non-profit organization. As a result of the ‘I PINK I CAN’ team’s efforts, $15,000 was raised.
The Gillis Gilkerson team celebrated the conclusion of their first annual #GGIGoesPink campaign with a teambuilding cookout and walk to promote awareness.
Sporting hot pink shirts complete with the breast cancer awareness ribbon, the team of 40+ walked through Downtown Salisbury to support the cause.
“In one way or another, we have all been touched by breast cancer at some point in our lives,” said Chief Development Officer Merry Mears. “It was important to our team to come together to show our support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
