26 Sep Gillis Gilkerson Celebrates Milestones with TidalHealth

SALISBURY, MARYLAND – SEPT 26, 2025 – Gillis Gilkerson is honored to be a trusted and relied upon construction partner for TidalHealth, and while our entities have completed many projects together in the past, the Summer of 2025 has stood out as a time of celebration for significant projects. As TidalHealth continues its commitment to bring high-quality, compassionate care to the communities that need it the most, Gillis Gilkerson has been able to play a small role to bring hope for higher quality of life for our neighbors by doing what we do best. State-of-the-art clinics, outpatient healthcare complexes and accessible community care all begin the same way, with the turning of soil, and a plan for the future.
The first major milestone was a groundbreaking ceremony for TidalHealth Millsboro North Medical Campus. The 150,000 square foot complex represents the largest outpatient facility TidalHealth has ever built, with advanced imaging, lab services, primary care, and a pharmacy planned for the initial phases to support the growing population in Sussex County. Future phases will bring a surgical center, walking trails and even more specialties to the campus, transforming the property into a center of healing, innovation and support. Gillis Gilkerson team members joined TidalHealth leadership, staff and local leaders to celebrate the groundbreaking on July 25, 2025. Mass grading work on the property began shortly thereafter, with a completion date for the project projected for Summer 2027.
The next major milestone was the ribbon cutting ceremony for the TidalHealth Edward Q. Wilgus Community Clinic, the health system’s newest primary care practice located in Salisbury’s historic Church Street neighborhood. Staffed by experienced primary and specialty care providers, the clinic is designed to serve as an accessible center of care for community residents, while also acting as a home base for TidalHealth resident physicians specializing in internal medicine. With generous support from the Wilgus family, the clinic now stands on the property once occupied by Hotel Esther – a site with significant relevance to healthcare in Salisbury – with the building’s exterior paying homage to the aesthetics of the former structure. The ribbon was cut on August 14, 2025, with Governor Moore in attendance alongside local leaders, donors, healthcare professionals and community members.
On September 22, 2025, the TidalHealth Family Medicine Residency Clinic broke ground on Morris Street on the west side of Salisbury. The clinic will serve as the flagship clinic and home base for the TidalHealth Family Medicine Residency Program and will offer full-spectrum family care for patients of all ages. As TidalHealth’s graduate medical education programs continue to expand, the clinic will also support training for TidalHealth residents in other specialties including anesthesia, OBGYN and psychiatric medicine.
“It’s an honor to stand alongside TidalHealth as they continue to invest in the health and wellbeing of our community,” said Gillis Gilkerson President Tyler Barnes. “Our team is truly grateful for the opportunity to be able to use our skills to create structures that we know will bring so many benefits to our neighbors. We believe that public health is public wealth, and brick by brick, we will work to better our community and the lives of our neighbors.”
