03 Mar Gillis Gilkerson Completes Renovations to Choptank Transport in Easton
The principals of Gillis Gilkerson (GGI) recently announced the firm’s completion of renovations to Choptank Transport, a logistics firm located at 8338 Elliott Road in Easton, Maryland. The intensive +/- 24,000 square foot remodel was initiated in order to satisfy the rapidly growing firm’s need for a larger, more versatile office space.
“We needed to expand, so we bought a new building, gutted it and started from scratch,” said Geoff Turner, president, Choptank Transport. “Our line of business requires us to communicate with each other all day long, so we decided on an open floor plan. Gillis Gilkerson did an excellent job building out the space. The artificial turf, putting green and corn hole area in the break room was a bonus for our hard-working staff.”
Led by Project Manager Don Murray and Superintendent Dale Reinhold, Gillis Gilkerson’s construction team completed the renovation within a 10-month time frame. The firm’s scope of work encompassed both interior and exterior renovations, including the installation of brand-new mechanical and electrical systems. The team also removed several solid brick walls in effort to create space for over thirty new windows and doors that span the façade of the building.
“It’s pretty spectacular what they did,” added Turner. “There is so much natural light inside the building that there almost isn’t a need for any artificial light.”
“When we earn the business from a new customer like Choptank Transport because of a referral, it makes us proud and solidifies our commitment to our work even more,” said Dwight Miller, president, Gillis Gilkerson. “We congratulate Geoff and his team on their expansion and appreciate the relationship we have built with them throughout this project.”
