‘Willow and Mane’ Salon Opening Marks Completion of Glen Avenue Redevelopment

SALISBURY, MARYLAND – August 17, 2021 – The Principals of Gillis Gilkerson (GGI) are pleased to announce the construction and development firm’s completion of ‘Willow and Mane’, Salisbury’s newest boutique salon located at 600 Glen Avenue. The salon’s grand opening marks the completion of Gillis Gilkerson’s redevelopment of the +/- 160,000 square foot former manufacturing facility. In addition to ‘Willow and Mane’, the Glen Avenue property is also home to Pure Fitness, CubeSmart, and Capital Women’s Care.

“Gillis Gilkerson did a great job guiding me through the whole construction process,” said Lauren Fenley, owner and founder of Willow and Mane. “Our main contact, Don Brady, was always available and responsive, and Joey Gilkerson offered great insight that helped me really maximize my space. I may have designed the salon, but they took my ideas and brought them to life.”

Superintendent and Project Manager Don Brady led the five-month interior buildout, overseeing everything from framing and drywall to the installation of flooring and lighting.

“It’s critical for us to fully understand our client’s vision and goals for each project,” said Principal Joey Gilkerson. “Lauren came to us with dynamic concepts and we worked closely with her to create design and construction solutions that fit her needs and desired aesthetic.”

Prior to the commencement of construction, Fenley worked with NAI Coastal, Gillis Gilkerson’s commercial real estate partner, to secure a lease for what is now ‘Willow and Mane’. Together, the firms maintained complete confidentiality while helping Fenley navigate the phases of her salon’s launch.

“Both NAI Coastal and Gillis Gilkerson made it a point to keep the project and lease under wraps. This was extremely important to the stylists who were facing job security concerns leading up to their transitions and our grand opening,” added Fenley.
