This year, Vice President Tyler Barnes celebrates his 19th year in the construction industry. As a second generation Gillis Gilkerson leader with experience in project management, business development, cost estimation and quality control, Barnes plays an integral role in mapping out the future of the construction and development firm.
“In 2016 when I moved back to the area, River Park Center, the professional office complex where Davis, Bowen & Friedel is now located, was my homecoming project,” said Barnes. “I will always remember it because I had the opportunity to dive into project management and I really enjoyed it.”
In his role as vice president, Barnes routinely collaborates with Gillis Gilkerson’s newest generation of leadership. Principals Bradley Gillis, Joey Gilkerson and Chris Gilkerson spearhead the company’s development efforts while Barnes prepares to lead construction.
“Growing in spite of adversities is the truest test of leadership,” added Barnes. “I have been fortunate to learn from the experience of our founding principals’ and am very excited about the new energy Chris, Brad, Joey and myself have created to lead the company in new directions.”
Tyler’s passion for his work will always be connected to working directly with customers.
“I love working with people to make their dreams a reality,” said Barnes. “Seeing how much happiness a completed project can bring to our community is what keeps me motivated.”
